Flock Safety helps residential communities and law enforcement work together to capture the objective evidence needed to reduce crime rates, improve neighborhood security, and protect home values. The Flock system is a technology platform that specializes in community safety through the use of license plate reader cameras (LPRs). License plates are the #1 piece of evidence that police request in the case of criminal activity such as home and car break-ins.
Flock Safety’s LPRs are entirely self-sufficient; they are solar-powered and send images via mobile technology to a secure cloud-based database. The LPRs are specifically designed and purpose-built to capture still images of the rear of vehicles that enter our community on public streets. They capture only still images and vehicle identification information, such as license plate, make, color, and other distinguishing characteristics (see example below). They do not capture images of people. Privacy is a top concern for Flock and the OHA. The vehicle images and data that are collected are automatically deleted after 30 days and are accessible only by authorized law enforcement agencies with the OHA’s permission.
